Standard Bank Group reported earnings attributable to ordinary shareholders of R38.966 billion for the nine months ended 30 September 2026, an 8.5% increase from the corresponding period in 2025. The figures were provided in a company announcement dated 21 October 2026.

The group said headline earnings growth was in line with growth in attributable earnings. It also said its performance was in line with guidance provided in August 2026.

Currency affected reported growth

Standard Bank said a stronger average rand dampened both banking revenue growth and cost growth. That currency effect is relevant when assessing the reported changes in the group’s banking operations.

Insurance and asset-management growth slowed

The group said headline earnings growth in insurance and asset management had slowed from the 15% reported for the first half of 2026. It attributed the slowdown to a high comparative base in the third quarter of 2025.

The announcement stated that the financial information and operational performance update had not been reviewed or reported on by the group’s external auditors.
