Clicks Group’s turnover rose 5.4% to R50.4 billion for the year ended 31 August 2026, passing R50 billion for the first time. The results were reported on 22 October 2026.

Headline earnings increased 2.7% to R3.323 billion, while headline earnings per share rose 4.4% to 1,421.7 cents. Both measures grew more slowly than turnover.

Trading margin narrows

The group trading margin fell 10 basis points to 9.7%. Clicks described a constrained trading environment marked by limited consumer spending and aggressive competitor discounting. The reported figures show that higher sales did not translate into comparable headline earnings growth, but they do not establish discounting as the sole cause of the margin decline.

Retail and distribution diverge

Retail turnover increased 4.2%, while distribution turnover rose 9.2%. Despite the stronger distribution sales growth, trading profit at United Pharmaceutical Distributors (UPD) declined 10.4%. The contrast makes profitability, as well as turnover, material to assessing the distribution business’s performance.
